Middle School

Science

Science in our Middle School is inquiry-based, with students being encouraged to explore, ask, test, and research. Much of the work is done in small groups, in an atmosphere of co-operation and knowledge-sharing. The wide variety of activities helps encourage curiosity and enthusiasm for the scientific process: students, for example, are involved in experiments, field research, model-making, problem-solving, field trips, research projects, and presentations.

Our science curriculum is covered both in English and in French, with the two programs complementing each other so that all topics are studied. Units which lend themselves to more visual and hands-on exploration are generally done in French. Concepts are taken from the Nova Scotia Public Schools Curriculum Guide. Our students are well prepared for high school science study, having gained strong inquiry and research skills and a solid conceptual base.
